Industrial Seamstress/Sewers (Soft Goods Technicians) manufacture all production and development primary thermal protection from raw material through delivery to the integration line. Aerospace experience is not required, but passion and energy to use your creative talents to produce critical components for Rockets is. Those with experience with automotive upholstery, or even personal sewing experience are welcome to apply.This position will be located in our Briggs, Texas facility about 30 minutes north of Cedar Park, Texas. This position will require working weekends and supporting 2nd Shift.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform all the steps in making Aerospace grade thermal protection blankets but not limited to:
  • Cut raw fabric materials with hand tools to high tolerance dimensions and or with and automated cutting table (Eastman experience preferred)
  • Performs Sewing operation with walking foot sewing machine.
  • Daily maintenance of all equipment and sewing machine
  • Cutting and installing grommets to a close tolerance.
  • Reading and following written work instruction and interpreting drawings
  • Material handling pursuant to AS9100
• Support con-ops and tooling design meetings for future products
• Improve manufacturing operations and product designs with engineering
• Constantly improve the fabrication operations and drive efficiency projects from the ground up

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in automotive upholstery or industry Seamstress
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
• Attention to detail
• Meticulous craftsmanship
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet schedule
• Proficient use of Pneumatic tools, hand tools, Power tools, and Precision measurement instruments
• Familiarity working with and conforming to assembly drawings
• Experience working with material data sheets
• Shop organization and cleanliness
• Use of personal protective equipment
