ABOUT FIREFLY AEROSPACE
As an end-to-end responsive space company, Firefly Aerospace is on a mission to enable our world to launch, land, and operate in space – anywhere, anytime. Our small- to medium-lift launch vehicles, lunar landers, and orbital vehicles allow us to service the entire lifecycle of government and commercial missions from low Earth orbit to the Moon and beyond. We utilize carbon composite structures, patented propulsion technologies, and common components across our vehicles to iterate quickly, improve reliability, and deliver payloads at a lower cost. This position is located at our manufacturing and test facility in Briggs, TX north of Austin, TX.
The Development Scheduler plays a central role in coordinating early-stage production activities that bridge engineering development and full-rate manufacturing. This position ensures that prototype and development builds are fully planned, resourced, and ready for execution - from engineering release through fabrication, assembly, and test.
This role requires frequent collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, test, supply chain, and program management to ensure that each development build has complete work instructions, programmed tooling and equipment, approved materials, and validated routing plans. The Development Scheduler tracks progress, identifies blockers, and ensures that lessons learned from development are incorporated into future rate-production readiness.
The ideal candidate is organized, methodical, and understands how technical, operational, and schedule inputs converge to enable on-time execution of complex builds.
Create, organize, and maintain development schedules for new products and line setups.
Define and structure tasks, milestones, durations, and dependencies to support program goals.
Maintain a centralized scheduling database tracking timelines, deliverables, and progress.
Log schedule updates and generate reports for internal and customer visibility.
Coordinate priorities and resolve schedule conflicts with internal and external partners.
Support development teams in defining scope and identifying deviations from baseline plans.
Monitor progress to identify risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities for acceleration.
Conduct critical-path and “what-if” analyses to assess impacts from design or process changes.
Develop and maintain short-interval (weekly) execution schedules.
Contribute to risk management by highlighting schedule-sensitive issues and supporting mitigations.
Prepare milestone tracking, issue summaries, and recovery plan documentation.
2+ years of experience in development scheduling or coordination within manufacturing or engineering.
Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar scheduling tools.
Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Self-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field.
Experience in composites, tooling, or aerospace manufacturing.
Familiarity with ERP and manufacturing execution systems.
Intermediate-to-advanced Microsoft Project skills (resource usage reports, macros, etc.).
Working knowledge of lean manufacturing or production system setup.
