Summary

The Quality Management System (QMS) Manager is responsible for the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the company’s Quality Management System in accordance with aerospace industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory obligations. This role ensures the organization’s processes, documentation, and quality performance support safe, compliant, and reliable products.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the company’s AS9100 certified Quality Management System.
  • Ensure all QMS documentation—including procedures, work instructions, forms, and records—is controlled, current, and compliant.
  • Lead periodic reviews of QMS effectiveness and drive necessary updates.
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead internal and customer/regulatory/certification audits.
  • Serve as the primary interface with third-party auditors and customers for QMS-related matters.
  • Track, investigate, and close corrective actions, preventive actions, and audit findings.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Program Management) to define, improve, and standardize processes.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective action using structured problem-solving tools (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, PDCA).
  • Identify systemic opportunities to enhance quality, reduce variation, and eliminate waste.
  • Train employees on QMS requirements, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Promote a strong culture of compliance, quality ownership, and continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Develop and track QMS and quality performance metrics (KPIs).
  • Provide regular reports to leadership on audit status, nonconformance trends, and systemic improvement priorities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Aerospace, Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of experience in QMS management/audit in aerospace, defense, or a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of AS9100, and related aerospace requirements.
  • Experience with internal auditing, root cause analysis, and corrective action management.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, configuration management, and document control.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Certifications preferred: ASQ CQA, ASQ CQE, Lead Quality Auditor (AS9100) or equivalent quality certification.
