Controller

Department: Finance
Location: Cedar park, TX

Firefly is seeking a highly motivated Controller or Assistant Controller (role to be determined based on experience and qualifications) to join our Accounting Team and play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with public company experience and a strong understanding of full-cycle general ledger reporting to contribute to our continued success. This role will report to either the Chief Accounting Officer or the Director of Accounting (TBD based on role).

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Compliance:

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and internal controls.
  • Assist with the preparation and filing of SEC reports (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K), if applicable.
  • Manage and support external audits.

General Ledger Management:

  • Oversee the full-cycle general ledger process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Establish, maintain and improve accounting policies and procedures.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insightful reports to management.
  • Ensure completeness, accuracy and timeliness of financial data.

Internal Controls:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks.
  • Prepare the company for internal controls audit readiness.

Team Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with FP&A and non-finance business units to establish and improve processes, and ensure accurate and timely financial information.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of approximately seven staff and senior accountants and AP personnel.
  • Drive process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting department.

Other Duties:

  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting.
  • Support special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
  • Minimum seven years of progressive accounting experience, with at least two years in a public company environment.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven track record of working with business-facing (i.e., non-finance) personnel to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Familiarity with public company reporting, documentation and audit requirements.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and internal control over financial reporting.
  • Strong leadership and team management, as well as personnel mentoring and development skills.
  • Proven experience with full-cycle general ledger management.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong Excel skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Public accounting (particularly Big4 accounting firm) experience
  • Experience with manufacturing industry accounting.
  • Masters degree in accounting or related business field.
