The DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SUMMARY

As a member of the Firefly Aerospace Skillbridge Program, you'll have the unique opportunity to work as a Communications Technician or Network Technician. In this role, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in the aerospace industry, specializing in communication systems, network infrastructure, and IT equipment. This program is tailored for active-duty service members within six months of transitioning out of the military, and it offers a pathway into a rewarding career with an end-to-end space transportation company. These positions are located north of Cedar Park, in Briggs, TX & Vandenberg, CA. Training is provided. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of communication systems, network infrastructure, and IT equipment.
  • Support the setup and operation of audio-visual equipment for presentations and meetings.
  • Provide technical support to end-users by diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient communication within the organization.
  • Assist in the configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of network devices and infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and help develop strategies to enhance network performance.
  • Support data backups, disaster recovery, and system security measures.
  • Communications Technician-specific:
    • Assist in ensuring clear and reliable communication channels for the organization, including radio, intercom, and satellite systems.
    • Participate in the setup and coordination of communication systems for mission-critical operations.
  • IT Technician-specific:
    • Assist in maintaining and upgrading computer systems and software applications to ensure optimal functionality.
    • Participate in software installation, patch management, and user account management.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a high school diploma and a minimum of 2 or more years of setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of communication systems and network devices.
  • Use of personal protective equipment and safety minded.
  • Familiarity with network protocols, routing, and switching concepts.
  • Proficiency in using network monitoring tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn and stay updated with evolving technologies and industry standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring network and communication system reliability.

FIREFLY AEROSPACE DOD SKILLBRIDGE CRITERIA

  • Must be a current Active Duty Servicemember
  • Must be separating from the Military in 4-12 months
  • Must be able to complete a minimum of 8 weeks and up to a maximum of 6 months SkillBridge internship
  • Must be able to complete 40 hours per week
  • Willingness to learn from others on the job
  • Will receive an honorable discharge
  • Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
  • Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
  • Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This is a military transitional program that does not provide compensation through Firefly Aerospace. If selected for full-time employment with Firefly Aerospace upon completion of SkillBridge you will be eligible for: base salary rate commensurate with experience. Additional benefits include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
