SUMMARY

Firefly is seeking a Mission Operations Engineer to support flight operations for spacecraft (Blue Ghost and Elytra missions). This role will help develop all flight and in-space operations based on payload and spacecraft requirements and timelines. After launch, the Mission Operations Engineer will support the mission on console, ensuring the successful completion of all requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create strategies and plan operations processes for current and future missions including creating detailed project plans, defining milestones, allocating resources effectively, and managing timelines
  • Drive continuous improvement and increase efficiency and reliability of ground infrastructure and operations processes
  • Work across disciplines to ensure completion of mission operation products
  • Develop spacecraft operational procedures, software, and scripts with input from subsystem teams
  • Support the execution of all spacecraft activities on console during active mission operations including checkouts and commissioning, payload science activities, maneuvers, and lunar surface operations
  • Help establish a strong operations culture

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • 6-8 years of hands-on engineering operations and control room experience
  • Demonstrated experience with a full spacecraft mission life cycle, from pre-launch testing and early operations through end-of-life
  • Demonstrated experience building and working within interdisciplinary teams
  • Experience with data visualization tools
  • Proficiency in Python

Desired

  • 8-10 years of experience in one of the following: spacecraft systems engineering, spacecraft or launch vehicle operations, engineering program management, or remotely operated vehicles
  • Experience setting up and running space operations simulations and tracking operator performance
  • Skilled in working with flight and EDU hardware during Integration and Test campaign
