Program Manager - Launch Site Development

SUMMARY

Firefly is partnering with Swedish Space Corporation (SSC) to bring its Alpha launch vehicle to Europe, opening access to a major market that is underserved by small and medium launch providers. As Program Manager for the Launch Site Development in Esrange, Sweden, you will drive and define the programmatic, technical, and legal landscapes necessary to make this program successful for Firefly, SSC and our customers. This is an opportunity to leverage your own creativity, organization, and leadership, pulling together a variety of internal disciplines to build Firefly’s next generation Alpha launch site.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage program integrated master schedule and costs
  • Negotiate and manage program contracts and agreements with partners and contractors
  • Drive collaboration between internal and external stakeholders, technical teams, Business Development, Regulatory, GNC, Legal, Finance, etc.
  • Manage program risks (ID, mitigate, track) with the engineering, software, operations, and test teams to deliver a fully activated launch site
  • Ensure timely execution of program goals and successful implementation of ramp-up schedule
  • Hiring, position creation, and management of program structure
  • Serve as point of contact for SSC, regulatory entities, internal leadership, and customers
  • Approve and produce design review documentation and present to relevant stakeholders
  • Own system level requirements for the launch site and associated hardware/software
  • Develop, track, and maintain program related budget and ensure spending aligns with company priorities
  • Up to 30% domestic and international travel required

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, Project Engineering or Aircraft Operations (equivalent military or operations experience may meet desire)
  • 5+ years of experience in project management, preferably on large industrial and multidisciplinary projects in heavily regulated environments
  • 2+ years of detailed design experience in Aerospace, Oil and Gas, Manufacturing, or other related industry
  • PMP certification or equivalent experience
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills leveraging MS Office, Atlassian Products, and associated plug-ins
  • Demonstrated ability to track and improve program performance metrics
  • Experience leading or contributing to multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • Exceptional computer skills (MS Excel, MS Project, MS Visio)
  • Strong communication skills in technical work environments

Desired

  • Demonstrated experience leading launch site development through activation and operations
  • 5+ years of detailed design experience in Aerospace, Oil and Gas, Manufacturing, or other related industry
  • MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or Engineering Management.
  • Familiarity with requirements tracking, Atlassian Confluence and Jira, and Siemens NX and Teamcenter
  • Working knowledge of launch vehicle and/or pad development engineering requirements (e.g. AFSPCMN 91-710 and NASA-STD-5005)
  • Familiarity with FAA Part 450—Launch and Reentry License Requirements
