Machine Shop Assistant I

Department: Machining & Chamber Manufacturing
Location: Bertram, TX

This position is located at our manufacturing, developing, and testing facility in Briggs, TX, north of Austin, TX.

SUMMARY

Join our dynamic team of highly skilled machinists with a combined experience of over 300 years of machining who will mentor you to manufacture cutting edge components with the latest tools available in the industry. The successful candidate will cut raw material as well as assist in preparing kits for the shop floor. You will perform a variety of duties pertaining to receiving materials, maintaining inventory levels as well as documenting heat lots on all raw material inventory. This position has excellent growth potential for the right candidate inside of the Machining and Chamber Manufacturing organization. We pride ourselves on cross training all machinist on every piece of machinery we have.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cut raw materials per Manufacturing Orders (MO’s) and verbal instructions from Shop Manager/Supervisor and Planning

  • After cutting, prepare material for machining by deburring and placing in proper swim lanes along with pre-kitted items from Tooling

  • Maintain proper inventory levels on all raw material in ERP

  • Keep all material racks and storage locations organized and clearly labelled for traceability

  • Maintain overall cleanliness of saw cutting area and adhere to all safety protocols

  • Prepare inventory counts on raw material as needed and establish min/max levels based on historical and inputted data

  • Share responsibility to maintain proper coolant levels in all machines along with adjusting correct fluid concentrations

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D

  • Working knowledge of MS Office-Outlook, Excel, Word and have exceptional data entry skills

  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with a high level of attention to detail

  • Ability to interpret and follow work instructions

  • Work with a diverse range of personality types

  • Basic Math Skills

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs unassisted

  • Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position

  • Must be available for overtime and weekend hours
