Department: Propulsion Manufacturing
Location: Briggs, TX

ABOUT FIREFLY AEROSPACE

Firefly Aerospace is a space and defense technology company enabling the world to launch, land, and operate in space anywhere, anytime. The only commercial company to achieve a successful Moon landing and deliver a satellite to orbit on 24-hour notice, Firefly provides government and commercial customers with full mission services from low Earth orbit to the Moon and beyond. Headquartered in north Austin, Texas, our manufacturing and test facility is located in Briggs, TX.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Manufacturing Prep Technicians are the first hands on hardware that eventually leaves Earth. Working closely with Manufacturing, Planning, Warehouse, and Manufacturing Engineering teams, you’ll ensure incoming work is fully prepared and ready for production. That means verifying parts, preparing documentation, cleaning and marking hardware, and staging work for the production team. This role supports our propulsion manufacturing operations, and candidates with backgrounds in engines, valves, fluid systems, or precision fabrication will find familiar territory here. We hire across experience levels, from entry-level to highly experienced, and encourage all interested candidates to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Production Planning & Job Readiness

  • Review planned work orders and align daily priorities with production Leads
  • Prepare incoming jobs by printing work instructions and manufacturing order documents, assembling job packets, and staging work in correct flow locations
  • Triage held jobs to identify opportunities to unblock work and coordinate with supporting teams to resolve issues
  • Parts Verification & Hardware Prep
  • Unpack parts, organize hardware, and verify all required parts are present and correct
  • Visually inspect incoming parts for damage, discrepancies, and non-conformance
  • Clean hardware using approved methods including ultrasonic/sonic cleaning processes and perform part marking
  • Complete prep-level assembly operations such as helicoil, keensert, or other light installation steps
  • Systems, Documentation & Quality
  • Consume parts in the ERP system and support part pick activities when shortages or missing materials are identified
  • Document standard rework, create NCRs for non-conforming parts, and support work instruction redline incorporation and submission
  • Escalate inventory, BOM, and documentation issues to Warehouse, Planning, or Manufacturing Engineering as appropriate
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment including chemical compliance checks and shop safety walkthroughs
